It’s full steam ahead at the Coalition for Community Energy headquarters for the Community Energy Congress 2017.
Hopefully you saw our website launch two weeks ago. A lot has happened since then, so read on for more and check out our great Congress Launch video above.
Victorian Energy Minister Keynote
We’re very happy to announce that the Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and Minister for Suburban Development Lily D’Ambrosio will help usher in the Congress with a keynote address. Minister D’Ambrosio has been a champion for community energy in Victoria.
The Minister brings to her role a strong commitment to economic prosperity and social justice, coupled with a passion for the environment and a focus on real and demonstrable outcomes. As Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change Mrs D’Ambrosio has already announced ambitious yet achievable renewable energy targets for Victoria, as well as a commitment to ensure net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Social media
Congress 2017 is a place for stories. A place where community energy dreams become reality.
We want to hear about your journeys thus far, and we strongly encourage you to come and join the conversation at the Congress in February. To make this event as diverse and vibrant as possible we ask that you share it far and wide, and we’ve established a range of great resources to help do so.
Our Welcome Video is a great one to share.
You can of course stay up to date by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
And we also have a range of example tweets, FB squares, a website banner and resources available to share via your social media pages HERE.
New Side Event – Sunulator Training
At the first Community Energy Congress in 2014, the Alternative Technology Association (ATA) launched their new community solar assessment tool – Sunulator. Since then they’ve made the Sunulator even better adding modules for energy storage and more.
We’re excited to say that ATA will be providing a 3hr Sunulator training on the Sunday prior to the Congress (Sunday 26 March). For all those interested in learning how to assess whether an organisation or business would make a good community solar host-site, this is a training not to be missed.
Congress Sponsorship Update
We are very happy to announce that the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage has thrown its support behind Congress 2017 by coming on board as a Platinum Sponsor.
Many local groups in NSW have shown their commitment to developing community owned renewable energy projects. Through the Regional Clean Energy Program, the Government has provided on-the-ground support and grants worth $846 000 to facilitate community owned energy projects. And the NSW Government wants to continue supporting their initiative through supporting the Congress. In particular, the NSW Government recognises the important role the Congress will play in:
- Assisting community groups to share their knowledge,
- Continuing to grow the sector in NSW and
- Celebrating the success of the groups to date.
OEH joins our Platinum sponsors the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Future Super, City of Melbourne, Energy Locals and Yingli. As well as our Bronze sponsors Powershop and Infigen Energy.
The most important thing to make the Community Energy Congress a success is you and your community coming and participating. So register now!
