One step closer to a Victorian Community Energy Target

The Victorian Government has moved one step closer to a Community Energy Target. The long awaited response to the Parliamentary Inquiry into Tackling Climate Change in Victorian Communities has been released, with in principle support for a Community Energy Target and full support for research into a financial mechanism (like a feed-in-tariff). These policies would ensure that mid-scale community energy generators (between 1-10MW) would have the government support and financial backing they need to get up and give back to their communities.

C4CE has been leading this campaign for four years and we’d like to thank the 1000 people who made a submission to our Community Energy Target petition hosted by our friends at Yes2Renewables and the community energy groups that spoke to their Members of Parliament. Together we’re demonstrating the huge potential of community energy and now we’re one step closer to a thriving and resilient sector.
